Lagos Taskforce Impounds 50 Motorcycles, Clears Shanties Along Coastal Road

The Lagos State Taskforce has initiated a fresh enforcement operation targeting commercial motorcycle traffic violations and illegal structures along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road corridor. The task force confiscated 50 motorcycles and arrested 10 vehicles for traffic offenses.

Videos shared by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, showed the task force officials clamping down on errant road users and roadside structures within the axis. The operation included the removal of shanties erected along the Coastal Road corridor, with several motorcycles, including dispatch bikes, seized during the raid.

The enforcement action is part of ongoing efforts to enhance environmental and traffic control measures in the state. The clearance operation, overseen by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, aims to address complaints about reckless motorcycle operations and improve road safety along the Coastal Road project.
