Oyo NUT Launches ICT Training for Teachers Amid Violence

The Oyo State wing of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), under the leadership of Chairman Raji Oladimeji, has committed to providing ICT training for teachers to enhance their professional development and improve classroom delivery. This initiative is part of a broader capacity-building program that includes both statutory and non-statutory training sessions.

The statutory training is mandated by the union's constitution, while non-statutory workshops will be organized in collaboration with local educational agencies, including the Kei Education Agency and the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board. Oladimeji emphasized the importance of equipping teachers with modern skills to meet the needs of today's digital learners.

Additionally, the union is actively addressing issues of violence and misconduct in schools, with ongoing legal actions related to attacks on teachers. Currently, there are three court cases concerning such incidents, including a notable case from Afijio Local Government Area where a teacher was attacked.

The union is committed to ensuring a safe school environment for both teachers and students.
