Oyo State Partners with Security Agencies for School Safety

The Oyo State Government is reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding students' lives by partnering with security agencies to combat violence in schools. A statement issued on Tuesday highlighted the establishment of a Safe School Committee aimed at sustaining collaboration with relevant security agencies to curb violence in educational institutions.

Dotun Oyelad, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, and Olusegun Olayiwola, disclosed that a team from the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps visited on Monday to discuss strategies for enhancing school safety. Olayiwola emphasized that children are invaluable assets whose physical and mental protection is crucial, particularly within the school environment.

The initiative also seeks to address declining parental involvement in children's academic activities and to enhance the role of parents in providing discipline and moral guidance. Ogunyinka Micheal Rotimi, the team leader from the Civil Defence Corps, called for increased government support to strengthen collaborative efforts and improve rapid response to security threats in schools.
