Two Kidnapped Cocoa Farmers in Oyo State Rescued

Two cocoa farmers who were kidnapped in Oyo State have regained their freedom following a successful rescue operation. The incident occurred during a visit to the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in Ibadan.

The farmers were abducted by gunmen who had demanded a ransom of N100 million for their release. Engr.

Akeem Olatunji, the chairman of Oluyol Local Government Area, confirmed their release during a telephone conversation. He emphasized that their freedom was made possible through a concerted effort involving a combined team of police, the State Security Service, and the Western Security Network, known as Amotekun.

Olatunji commended the rescue team for their coordinated efforts and assured residents of the area of continued collaboration with relevant security agencies. The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni (rtd), was also involved in the operation to secure the farmers' release.
