Two Men Released After Four Weeks of Kidnapping

Two members of the Ora Igbomina community, Sunday Oyekanmi and Adeyey Tayes, were released after being abducted for four weeks, with their kidnapping occurring on February 1, 2026. Yemi Farounbi, the Asiwaju of Ora Igbomina, announced their release in a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo on Tuesday.

He expressed profound gratitude to God for the safe return of the victims, describing the development as a great relief for their families and the entire community, which endured a period of anxiety and intense prayer. It was noted that a ransom, reportedly several million naira, was paid for their release, which included a motorcycle and mobile phone.

Farounbi commended the resilience of the victims and thanked security agencies and unnamed individuals who worked behind the scenes for their release. He appealed to residents to remain vigilant and sustain cooperation with security authorities to improve safety across the community.

Additionally, he called on the governments of Osun, Kwara, and Ekiti states to form a strategic security alliance to bolster internal security and urged the federal government to deploy additional soldiers and police personnel to the border areas frequently exploited by criminal elements.
