Oyo State Partners with Saudi Arabia for Eye Hospital

Oyo State has entered a partnership with Saudi Arabia to inaugurate a specialist eye hospital in Ibadan, significantly enhancing healthcare facilities in the region. The project, supported by Albasar International Foundation, aims to improve access to specialized eye care services and reduce blindness in the state.

Governor Seyi Makinde described the initiative as a major achievement in the state's drive to provide quality and affordable healthcare services. He noted the ongoing challenges related to vision health that affect economic productivity and social participation.

The governor highlighted measures already taken to strengthen eye care services, including the establishment of an eye health desk within the Directorate of Public Health and the deployment of eye health officers across 33 local government areas. The project is designed to complement both public and private healthcare systems, ensuring wider access to quality eye care services.

The event also recognized individuals for their contributions to the vision health initiative.
