Oyo Governor Confirms FG's Role in School Abduction Rescue

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde stated that the Federal Government is actively engaged in the rescue efforts for pupils and a teacher abducted from a school in Oriire Local Government Area. He revealed that he has met with federal security officials three to four times daily as part of ongoing rescue operations.

Makinde made these remarks while addressing a protest by teachers and educational stakeholders concerned about the fate of the victims. He emphasized that federal authorities remain fully engaged in coordinating the rescue efforts across federal and state levels.

This aligns with the Federal Government's earlier position on deploying security intelligence assets immediately following the abduction. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed enhanced security responses, and a federal government delegation visited the affected community to reassure residents.

The governor announced additional measures, including the approval of 1,000 forest guards and the deployment of a specialized rescue team to the area.
