Oyo State Attack: Seven Teachers Abducted, One Killed

In a recent attack in the Oriir area of Oyo State, seven teachers were abducted, and one Islamic studies teacher was killed, as confirmed by Governor Seyi Makinde. The incident prompted a security update from the governor, who addressed journalists on Sunday.

Following the attack, six suspects have been arrested within the community, with three additional individuals of interest connected to the incident. The governor noted that the attackers are believed to be members of an armed group fleeing intensified military operations against terrorist bandits in the northwest.

Makinde emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to tackle the security crisis, which includes engaging religious leaders and community elders, particularly from the Baptist Convention. He assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the abducted teachers and urged calm among families affected by the incident.
