Oyo State Governor Enforces Okada Operation Restrictions

On Friday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State signed Executive Order 002/2026, restricting the operations of commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, from 10:30 PM to 5:30 AM daily across the state. This decision was made to strengthen security measures following the discovery of unregistered motorcycles being used in criminal activities, particularly in light of recent incidents involving the abduction of a pupil and a teacher in Oriir Local Government Area.

The governor emphasized the need for improved public safety and assured residents of ongoing efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted individuals. He urged the public to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, highlighting that the state government is committed to addressing security challenges.

The executive order also provides a legal framework for enforcing vehicle registration and traffic regulations, empowering authorities to arrest and prosecute offenders. Key figures present at the signing ceremony included Oyo State Attorney General Abiodun Aikomo and other senior officials.
