IGP Disu Visits Oyo After Terrorist Attack, Orders Rescue

On May 15, 2026, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu visited Oyo State in response to a tragic terrorist attack in Oriir Local Government Area that resulted in abductions. During his visit, Disu expressed deep concern over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

He was accompanied by Kwara State Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi and the Police School Protect Squad led by Abayomi Shogunle. Disu met with Oyo State Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga and other security stakeholders to receive operational briefings on ongoing rescue efforts.

He assured residents, parents, and guardians that the Nigeria Police Force would collaborate with other security agencies to intensify coordinated search and rescue operations, utilizing tactical intelligence to secure the safe return of the abducted victims and bring the perpetrators to justice. Disu condemned the attack as cruel and unacceptable, reiterating that no effort would be spared to restore normalcy in the affected communities.
