IGP Disu Leads Successful Kidnapping Syndicate Operation

Under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwanu Disu, the Nigeria Police Force executed a successful operation in Oyo State that dislodged a sophisticated kidnapping syndicate. This operation, which took place in June 2026, was part of a broader strategy to enhance intelligence-driven law enforcement in Nigeria.

Disu, appointed by President Bola Tinubu, has emphasized a transition towards advanced digital intelligence and forensic methodologies within the police force. The operation involved the elite Intelligence Response Team (IRT), which utilized upgraded data tracking capabilities to map the syndicate's movements and locate their hideouts within a narrow 72-hour timeframe.

The mission culminated in a late-night operation that resulted in the safe extraction of Adebayo Adelabu's sister and young nephew, highlighting the effectiveness of the new tactics and technologies employed by the police.
