Oyo State Bans Unregistered Vehicles on Public Roads

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYRTMA) and car dealers in Oyo State have reached an agreement to strictly enforce Executive Order 002 of 2026, which prohibits unregistered vehicles from operating on public roads. This decision was announced following a stakeholder meeting held at the agency's headquarters in Ibadan, led by OYRTMA's Executive Chairman, Adekoya Adesagba.

The enforcement is deemed necessary due to security concerns arising from the movement of unregistered vehicles. Adesagba emphasized that dealers must ensure vehicles are properly registered and possess valid documentation, as substitutes like dealer registration numbers and stickers will no longer be accepted.

He warned against displaying vehicles on walkways, which obstruct pedestrian paths and increase the risk of accidents. The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution that no vehicle should operate on public roads without proper registration.

OYRTMA's General Manager, Ayoad Adeoy, expressed appreciation for the participation of various dealer representatives.
