PAM Consortium Launches Study in Nigeria to Address Multimorbidity

The PAM Consortium is launching a study in Nigeria to address the challenge of multimorbidity, where individuals suffer from multiple chronic illnesses simultaneously. The study, led by the West African Institute for Applied Health Research (WAFERs) in partnership with Keele University and the University of Ibadan, aims to develop guidelines for managing overlapping diseases like HIV, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions.

The consortium, supported by Africa CDC and WHO, seeks to create a model in Oyo State that can be scaled nationally. Professor Adewale Adebajo emphasized the need for coherent guidelines to improve patient care and provider practices in addressing multimorbidity, a prevalent health issue in Africa.
