PAN Commends General Olufemi Oluyede for Security Gains

The Peace Advocates Network (PAN) praised General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their ongoing military operations against terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers. In a statement signed by Dr Charles Kazayet, PAN noted operational successes, particularly in the North-East, where troops under Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 484 terrorists, arrested 370 suspects, and rescued 595 kidnapped victims in the second quarter of 2026.

The group highlighted the surrender of 38 insurgents and the rescue of over 360 civilians from the Mandara Mountains in Borno. In the North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma continued its offensive against bandits across several states.

Additionally, military operations in the South-East targeted kidnappers and armed groups, while the South-South focused on oil theft and illegal refining, dismantling 18 illegal sites and recovering over 250,500 litres of stolen petroleum in July. PAN urged Nigerians to view national security as a collective responsibility and commended the sacrifices of military personnel across various operations.
