Oyo State Commission to Reveal Findings on School Abduction

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry established by the Oyo State Government is scheduled to submit its report today concerning the abduction of students and teachers from Esinele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area. Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information, announced that the report will be formally received by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde at the Executive Council Chamber in Ibadan at 12 noon.

The event will include attendance from government officials, security chiefs, religious leaders, labor representatives, and community representatives. The commission was inaugurated on July 31, 2026, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abduction that occurred on May 15, 2026, when bandits attacked three schools, leading to the kidnapping of 39 pupils and seven teachers, including Mrs. Racheal Alamu.

The victims were held for 56 days before being freed on July 10, 2026. Tragically, two teachers, Michael Oyedokun and Adesiyan Adegboye, were lost during this incident.
