Militia Attack Causes Panic in Taraba Community

A significant attack by militia in the Chanchanji ward of Takum Local Government Area, Taraba State, has resulted in widespread panic among residents. Following the attack, many fled their homes, leaving luggage by the roadside as they sought safety.

Fr. Samuel Ogah, administrator of Holy Copi School, reported that academic activities have been severely disrupted due to the influx of displaced persons seeking refuge in schools.

The community has been left in fear, with reports suggesting that Fulani militia planned further attacks. Residents have expressed concerns about their safety and the destruction of their livelihoods.

The situation escalated after credible information indicated that heavily armed militia were preparing for a major assault. The military's swift response reportedly deterred further violence, although tensions remain high.

Last week, three policemen were killed in a separate attack, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.
