Party Registered in Nigeria, Not Canada — APC Reacts to Court Ruling Labeling It a Terrorist Group

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria has rejected a Canadian court ruling that labeled it a terrorist organization. The APC's National Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, emphasized that the party is a duly registered political organization in Nigeria and operates within the country's constitutional framework.

He stated that it is inappropriate for a foreign court to assess the operations of a political party in another country. The ruling, delivered on June 17, 2025, by Justice Phuong Ngo, stemmed from a case brought by Douglas Egharevba, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who alleged links between the APC and electoral misconduct.

The APC maintains that it has always participated in elections lawfully and is deeply committed to democratic principles. Ibrahim argued that the judgment ignored Nigerian laws governing political parties and that the APC operates transparently within the country's democratic system without the need for interference from foreign courts.
