PDP Slams Canadian Court’s Terrorist Tag On Nigerian Parties

The PDP has criticized the Canadian Federal Court's decision to uphold the terrorist tag on Nigerian political parties, calling the claim biased and lacking evidence. The court denied asylum to former party member Douglas Egharevba, who had affiliations with both the APC and PDP.

The judgment, delivered on June 17, 2025, by Justice Phuong Ngo, dismissed Egharevba's application for judicial review under the Immigration Appeal Division. The Canadian Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness argued that the PDP was implicated in political violence, subversion of democracy, and electoral bloodshed in Nigeria.

The court records revealed Egharevba's membership in the PDP from 1999 to 2007 before joining the APC.
