INEC Prequalifies 14 Associations for Party Registration in Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has prequalified 14 out of 171 associations that submitted letters of intent to register as political parties in Nigeria. INEC disqualified 157 associations for not meeting the requirements.

The prequalified associations include the African Transformation Party (ATP), Democratic Alliance (ADA), and others. Sam Olumekun, the INEC national commissioner and chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, revealed this information.

The interim chairmen and secretaries of the prequalified associations have been invited for a briefing at the INEC Headquarters in Abuja. This process is a crucial step in the formation of new political parties in Nigeria.
