INEC Updates on Registration of New Political Parties: 171 Applications Received

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has provided an update on the registration of new political parties in Nigeria. INEC has received 171 letters of intent from associations seeking registration as political parties.

As of September 3, 2025, 19 new applications were received, bringing the total to 171. The commission is finalizing a shortlist of associations to proceed to the next stage of the registration process.
