PASAN Rejects NLC's Ultimatum on Staff Transfers in Abia

The Public Service Administrative Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has rejected the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)'s seven-day ultimatum concerning the reversal of staff transfers at the Abia State House of Assembly. Comrade Okoro Ogbonnaya, the NLC Abia State Council Chairman, called on Mr.

Benson Ojeiker to reverse the transfers. PASAN Chairman Mr.

Sundai Kalu and Secretary Mr. Ucheka Ugochukwu stated that the transfers violate civil service rules and have warned of a potential strike if their demands for the implementation of a consolidated salary structure are not met within three days.

The NLC's ultimatum follows concerns over the failure of the Abia State government to implement the consolidated salary structure. PASAN has already notified the state government and is in negotiations regarding the new minimum wage rollout scheduled for October 2024.

The situation escalated when PASAN joined a nationwide action, leading to the locking of gates at the Abia State House of Assembly.
