Infantino Secures Support from Pastore, Zanetti, Cambiasso

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has garnered support from former Argentina internationals Javier Pastore, Javier Zanetti, and Esteban Cambiasso as he prepares to run for re-election in the FIFA presidential election scheduled for March 2027. The trio issued a joint statement emphasizing the increased participation of former and current players in FIFA's structures since Infantino's tenure began.

They noted that Infantino's reforms have allowed players to have a voice in FIFA committees, projects, and work groups, which they claim did not exist before his presidency. Pastore, Zanetti, and Cambiasso highlighted that their contributions have led to beneficial initiatives for football.

This endorsement comes amidst growing criticism of Infantino's leadership, with several former internationals, including Mikael Silvestre, Emmanuel Petit, Robert Pires, and Olivier Dacourt, expressing concerns about his presidency.
