Paul Pogba Parts Ways with AS Monaco After One Season

Paul Pogba has officially left AS Monaco after the Ligue 1 club terminated his contract, which was originally set to last until June 2027. The decision came after both parties acknowledged that the objectives set were only “partially achieved.” The 33-year-old midfielder made a mere six appearances during the season, starting only one match and coming on as a substitute in the other five.

His tenure was significantly affected by difficulties in regaining form following a doping suspension and various injuries. Pogba joined Monaco in the summer of 2024 after being cleared to return to professional football, having had his four-year suspension reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

In response to his departure, Pogba expressed gratitude to Monaco for the opportunity, stating that representing the club was an incredible experience. Monaco's CEO, Thiago Scuro, acknowledged the ambitious nature of Pogba's signing but noted that the outcome did not meet expectations.

Pogba now faces decisions regarding the next phase of his career.
