Bala Mohammed Denies Defection Rumors, Stays with PDP

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, addressed rumors regarding his potential defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a press interaction on Wednesday, following the swearing-in of 17 newly appointed permanent secretaries at the Government House, he downplayed the speculation, asserting his commitment to remain a member of the PDP.

Mohammed did not provide a detailed interview but made brief remarks to journalists, emphasizing his loyalty to the party amidst widespread rumors of an impending move to the APC. He also highlighted the importance of mentorship within the civil service and urged the new appointees to uphold integrity and avoid misconduct.

Additionally, he expressed optimism about clearing a backlog of N20 billion in payments for 13 years of arrears starting from January 2026. His comments appear to quell speculation about his political future, reaffirming his allegiance to the PDP.
