Governor Bala Mohammed Denies PDP Defection Rumors

On Wednesday, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State addressed rumors regarding his potential defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He firmly stated, "I’ve not moved," emphasizing his continued membership in the PDP.

This statement followed reports suggesting he might consider leaving the party, which surfaced shortly after he appointed 17 new permanent secretaries. When approached by journalists, Governor Mohammed declined to provide an immediate interview but promised to address the matter later in the day.

He described the speculation as internal political maneuvering. Additionally, he urged the newly appointed secretaries to maintain integrity and avoid corrupt practices, highlighting the importance of discipline and professionalism in their roles.

The governor also assured that his administration is committed to settling outstanding gratuities estimated at N20 billion, with payments for 13 years of arrears set to commence in January 2026. The oath of office for the new appointees was administered by Chief Judge Talatu Musa Umar.
