Richard Akinaka Seeks Bayelsa Central Senate Seat

Richard Akinaka, a 43-year-old entrepreneur, formally declared his candidacy for the Bayelsa Central senatorial district seat on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during an address to party members in Yenagoa on Saturday. Akinaka's decision to contest follows an earlier declaration made at a party gathering on Tuesday.

He expressed his commitment to addressing the persistent leadership deficit affecting grassroots communities and highlighted the socio-economic challenges faced by rural dwellers in the senatorial district. Akinaka articulated his belief that his life experiences and connection to the struggles of the constituents would provide legitimacy to his candidacy.

He dismissed age as a limiting factor for governance, asserting that the real question is whether individuals are sufficiently responsive to undertake the responsibilities of leadership. Akinaka aims to improve the livelihoods of the grassroots and advance his purpose through his candidacy.
