Sokoto PDP Rejects National Leadership's Executive Dissolution

The Sokoto chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly rejected the dissolution of its state executive committee, which was announced by the party's national leadership. The state leadership described the dissolution as unconstitutional and devoid of legal backing.

A statement signed by the party's national public secretary indicated the formation of a 15-member caretaker committee to oversee the party's affairs in Sokoto. However, Sokoto PDP chairman Hayatu Tafida and other leaders strongly opposed this decision, asserting that the current executive committee, which was duly elected, cannot be removed arbitrarily without following due process.

Goronyo Goronyo acknowledged the ongoing leadership crisis within the party at the national level but maintained that it does not affect the legitimacy of the Sokoto state executive. The Sokoto PDP leadership emphasized the need to uphold internal democracy and the rule of law, resisting attempts to impose a caretaker committee without constitutional backing.
