Oladimeji Breaks from Saraki, Joins Turaki Faction in PDP

Hassan Oladimeji, the Kwara governorship candidate, has announced a break from his long-standing political relationship with Bukola Saraki, marking the end of a 25-year association. Oladimeji has aligned himself with the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), distancing himself from Saraki's faction.

This declaration follows a period of escalating struggles for control within the PDP, particularly in Kwara State, as factions emerge ahead of the 2027 elections. Oladimeji criticized the recent suspension of party members, including those from the Magaji Ngeri ward in Ilorin West Local Government Area, deeming the action invalid and asserting that he is no longer part of Saraki's faction.

He emphasized that the ongoing turmoil within the party is due to a lack of dialogue among leaders. The situation has led to the emergence of parallel leadership structures within the PDP, complicating the party's hierarchy and creating uncertainty regarding the governorship ticket.
