Yakubu Lado Wins PDP Governorship Primary in Katsina

On May 24, 2026, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) declared Senator Yakubu Lado as the winner of the Katsina governorship primary election. The announcement was made by Nuradeen Sani, the chairman of the PDP governorship primary election committee.

The primary election process was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, ensuring a peaceful and transparent exercise. A total of 78,085 delegates were accredited, with 77,013 votes cast in favor of Senator Lado, who secured 72,000 votes.

The results indicated that a significant majority of the delegates supported Lado, with only a few not voting for him. Following the announcement, party supporters celebrated the victory at the venue.

Senator Lado is expected to represent the PDP in the Katsina State governorship election scheduled for 2027.
