PDP Schedules Screening for Jonathan as 2027 Aspirant

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed a date to screen former President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential aspirant for the 2027 election. This screening is set to occur on Tuesday and will be conducted by a committee led by Tanimu Turaki.

The screening panel will include prominent party members such as former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Tom Ikimi. This development follows the confirmation from the party's National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, regarding the successful completion of a membership registration exercise.

The PDP faction aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced an extension of the screening exercise for various aspirants seeking different electoral positions across the country. A total of 748 aspirants are contesting for House of Representatives seats, 198 for Senate positions, and 112 for governorship, with 2,122 aspirants for state House Assembly positions expected to undergo screening.
