PDP Factions Disown Pantami, Name Rival Candidates in Gombe

In Gombe State, two rival factions of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) have emerged, each announcing different governorship candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. The faction led by Tanimu Turaki presented Moham Yayari as their candidate during a certification ceremony held on Wednesday.

Turaki emphasized the need for loyalty among candidates and warned against leaving the party. PDP chieftain Ibrahim Turaki stated that no one would mandate the political party awaiting future candidates.

Meanwhile, a separate faction held a national executive committee meeting in Abuja, where former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Pantami was present. This faction recognized Pantami as their governorship candidate, with his certification published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The emergence of these rival factions has deepened the leadership dispute within the PDP in Gombe State, as both factions back different candidates for the upcoming elections.
