Nigerian Court Invalidates Factional PDP National Convention in Ibadan

The Federal High Court in Ibadan declared the factional People Democratic Party (PDP) national convention held on November 15, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, invalid. The court ruling nullified the convention where Kabiru Turaki and others presented themselves as the party's national officials, dealing a blow to the faction that emerged from the convention.

Despite internal disputes within the PDP, the convention proceeded as planned, attracting thousands of party delegates and leaders. The court's decision follows the ongoing leadership dispute within the PDP, leading to legal battles over the party's national leadership.

The PDP's national public secretary, Ini Ememobong, stated that the party awaits the final pronouncement from the appellate court and believes that the court will uphold its position. Members are urged to remain calm and committed to the party, emphasizing that there is no cause for alarm.

The faction led by Kabiru Turaki maintains that the convention was legal and awaits further legal proceedings.
