PDP Schedules Screening for Jonathan as 2027 Aspirant

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that it will screen former President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential aspirant for the 2027 election. The screening is scheduled for May 19, 2026, and will be conducted by a committee led by Tanimu Turaki.

Other members of the screening panel include former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Tom Ikimi, alongside senior party figures. This development follows the completion of a membership registration exercise by the PDP, which was confirmed by the party's National Public Secretary, Ini Ememobong.

The party is also extending its screening exercise to various aspirants seeking different electoral positions across the country, with a total of 748 aspirants contesting for House of Representatives seats, 198 for Senate, and 112 for governorship positions. Additionally, 2,122 aspirants for state House Assembly positions will undergo screening.
