PDP names four governors as potential 2027 presidential candidates

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named four governors as potential presidential candidates for the 2027 general election. Debo Ologunagba, the party's national publicity secretary, identified Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, and Douye Diri of Bayelsa as highly qualified to fly the party's flag.

The announcement comes ahead of the party's national elective convention scheduled to be held in Ibadan, Oyo state on November 15-16, 2025. The PDP National Executive Council (NEC) confirmed the date and venue of the convention, agreeing to zone the 2027 presidential ticket to the south, a move seen as favoring Makinde.

Ologunagba emphasized that the PDP is the natural alternative to the APC, and urged members to abide by the party's constitution and resolve internal disputes amicably.
