PDP Northern Leaders Back Turaki as Consensus National Chair Amid Legal Challenges

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) Northern leaders have backed Turaki as the consensus candidate for the national chairman position. This endorsement came during a stakeholder meeting in Abuja attended by top PDP figures, including governors Bala Mohammed, Caleb Mutfwang, Ahmadu Fintiri, and Dauda Lawal.

However, legal hurdles loom as a court case seeks to halt the convention, filed by individuals like Austin Nwachukwu and Amah Abraham Nnanna. The PDP's National Executive Committee had earlier resolved to zone the presidential ticket to the South and the national chairman position to the North, aligning with the tradition of the party.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming developments.
