PDP to Screen Goodluck Jonathan for 2027 Election

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) is set to screen former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday, as he aspires to be the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. The screening committee consists of 14 members, including Namadi Sambo, former Vice President; Jonah Jang, former Governor of Plateau State; and Tom Ikimi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Chief Olabode George leads the committee, which also includes Babangida Aliyu, Maryam Ciroma, Zainab Maina, Josephin Anenin, Dr. Abdul Bulama, Dr.

Esther Uduehi, Edo State PDP Chairman Toni Aziegbemi, Dr. Sundai Solarium, and Chief Anicho Okoro.

Jonathan is the only presidential aspirant from the PDP, having recently registered as a member of the party. The screening is part of a broader exercise that will also assess candidates for 748 House of Representatives aspirants, 198 Senate aspirants, 112 governorship aspirants, and 2,122 state House of Assembly aspirants across various states.

The exercise is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
