PDP Faction Elects New Leaders at Kano Congress

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Nyesom Wike conducted a congress in Kano, shortly after a federal high court ruling. The congress was supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and resulted in the election of Dr.

Bello Gambo Bichi as the new state chairman. Other elected officials included Ali Mati Shantak as financial secretary, Dr.

Hafsat Abubakar as women leader, and Musa Baba Dala as public secretary. Engr.

Auwal Ya'u was appointed youth leader, while Barr. Abdullahi Umar served as legal adviser and Lawan Shehu Yakasai as treasurer.

The congress, which involved 29 members of the state executive council, was part of ongoing reforms within the party. Aminu Abdullahi Taura, who oversaw the congress, noted efforts to reconcile and unite party leaders.

The congress recognized the importance of the upcoming 2023 governorship elections in Kano, with Alhaji Muhamad Sani Abacha contributing to the party's growth in the state.
