Wike-backed PDP Faction Plans Fresh Congresses Amid Internal Divisions

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) faction supported by Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, organized a Board of Trustees meeting in Abuja to strategize fresh congresses amid escalating internal conflicts within the party. The faction, spearheaded by Abdulrahman Moham and aligned with Kabiru Turaki, is in solidarity with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

Mao Ohuabunwa, the Board of Trustees Chairman, acknowledged the party's turbulent period marked by leadership disputes and prolonged legal battles. The recent nullification of the November 15 national convention by a Federal High Court in Oyo State was commended, urging party leaders to focus on strengthening democratic institutions and avoiding actions that could undermine constitutional order.

Abdulrahman Moham, the Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee aligned with Wike's faction, announced plans to release a timetable for congresses at the state level to pave the way for a new national convention. The faction emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust grassroots structure and unity within the party to avoid complacency.
