PEBEC Directs MDAs to Halt New Policies and Regulations

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), led by Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, has issued a directive to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to cease the introduction and rollout of new policies and regulatory changes. This directive, announced on Monday in Abuja, mandates that no major regulatory changes occur until a full compliance and regulatory impact analysis (RIA) framework is achieved.

The Federal Government is committed to strengthening regulatory quality and ensuring policy coherence to improve the business environment. The framework, which is to be reviewed and approved, is already available on the PEBEC website, and MDAs are expected to familiarize themselves with it immediately.

PEBEC aims to eliminate policy inconsistencies and frequent reversals that could adversely affect businesses and investors. The council, established in July 2016, focuses on removing bureaucratic and legislative constraints to enhance Nigeria's business environment.
