PenCom DG Emphasizes Judiciary's Role in Retirement Benefit Disputes

Omolola Oloworaran, the Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), emphasized the crucial role of the judiciary in resolving retirement benefit disputes in Nigeria. Speaking at a workshop on the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), Oloworaran highlighted the importance of judicial officers being well-versed in pension laws and regulations to ensure fair and objective decisions.

The workshop, attended by judges from the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), aimed to enhance the understanding of the legal framework governing pension schemes. The President of NICN, Hon Justice Benedict Bakwaph Kanyip, stressed the ethical obligation to ensure timely and just payment of retirement benefits to elected public officers and political appointees.
