PENGASSAN Halts Gas Supply to Dangote Refinery Over Worker Dispute

PENGASSAN has ordered an immediate halt to gas supply and shut off oil supply valves to the Dangote Refinery, accusing the management of terminating the employment of 800 workers, allegedly for joining the union. The union, in a letter signed by Lumumba Okugbawa, General Secretary, accused the refinery of hiring an Indian national to replace the sacked workers.

Dangote Refinery denied the claims, stating it was restructuring its workforce. PENGASSAN directed its members, especially the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company branch, to cease gas and oil supplies to the refinery.

The company reiterated its commitment to labor principles but insisted on the reinstatement of the sacked workers.
