Pentagon Requests $200 Billion for Iran Military Operations

The Pentagon has formally requested $200 billion in additional funding to support ongoing military operations in Iran, indicating a significant escalation in U.S. military spending. This request was confirmed by President Donald Trump during a White House event on Thursday, where he described the conflict as highly unpredictable.

Trump emphasized the necessity of maintaining military readiness, stating that the proposed funding is a small price to pay to ensure the U.S. remains in top shape. The request, which is set to be forwarded to Congress for consideration, nearly doubles the total amount approved for Ukraine since the onset of the Russian invasion in 2022, which has seen approximately $188 billion approved, with around $110 billion already spent as of December last year.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth did not directly confirm the $200 billion figure but underscored the need for increased military funding to prepare for future operations. Meanwhile, White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett disclosed that the conflict has already cost the U.S. $12 billion, with uncertainty surrounding the timeline for military action against Iran.
