Pereira to Compete for 3rd UFC Title at White House Event

Alex Pereira is set to compete against Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title at the UFC Freedom 250 event on June 14, hosted at the White House in Washington DC. This fight is significant as Pereira aims to become the first fighter to win UFC titles in three different weight divisions.

Pereira, a former middleweight champion, vacated his light heavyweight title last month to pursue this historic opportunity. Gane last fought in October against Tom Aspinall, resulting in a no contest due to an accidental eye poke.

Although Pereira would prefer to face Aspinall for a unification bout upon his recovery, the current matchup with Gane is confirmed. The event will serve as a co-main event alongside a lightweight championship fight between Ilia Topuria and interim title holder Justin Gaethje.

UFC President Dana White anticipates around 5,000 spectators at the South Lawn, with an additional 85,000 expected to watch from a nearby park.
