PETAN, Others Form African Local Content Body, Get NCDMB’s Backing

African oil and gas service providers have come together to form the African Local Content Organisation (ALCO) with the aim of collaborating to deliver complex projects and create value in the energy sector. The organization was unveiled at the 2025 Namibia Oil and Gas Conference in Windhoek, Namibia, with membership open to service providers in the oil, gas, and mining sectors across the continent.

ALCO, introduced by Mr. Wole Ogunsanya, will serve as the private sector arm of the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) and focus on developing human capacity, deploying technology, and mobilizing private capital for projects.

The group plans to launch officially in 2026 at an African Union conference and has already received backing from the Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB). ALCO aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, collaboration on projects, and partnerships among African energy service companies to drive economic growth on the continent.
