Former Obidient Leader Questions Peter Obi's Viability

James Kitiya, the former president of the Labour Party in Kitiya State and a presidential aspirant, stated that while Peter Obi is a good man, he does not stand a chance in the 2027 presidential elections. Speaking during an appearance on Vanguard's podcast, Kitiya noted that Obi's support base has significantly weakened since the 2023 elections.

He recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and explained that his decision was influenced by the visible infrastructural efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, particularly ongoing projects like the coastal road near Eko Atlantic. Kitiya criticized the Obidient movement for lacking grassroots structure necessary to influence electoral outcomes and claimed that even loyalists within the movement privately acknowledge a shift in momentum.

He urged continued support for Obi but emphasized that the political landscape has changed, making it difficult for Obi to find a pathway to success in the upcoming elections.
