Peter Obi Critiques UTME Registration Issues in Anambra

Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, expressed concerns regarding the registration chaos for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State. In a statement shared via X, Obi lamented the hardships students are experiencing during the registration process, which he noted mirrors challenges faced the previous year.

He highlighted that the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) has sanctioned several Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers for alleged infractions, which has exacerbated the situation. Obi urged authorities to adopt a balanced approach in handling these sanctions to prevent students from bearing the consequences.

He emphasized the urgency of the matter as the registration deadline approaches on February 26, warning that candidates, especially from remote rural areas, may miss the examination if corrective actions are not taken swiftly. Obi's statement comes amid reports of nationwide registration challenges for the 2026 UTME, with millions of candidates already signed up.
