Peter Obi Launches 2027 Presidential Campaign in Onitsha

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), officially launched his campaign for the 2027 presidential election on Friday at a press conference held at his residence in Onitsha. Obi, who is running alongside his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, presented an agenda focused on transitioning Nigeria to a production-driven economy.

He emphasized the need to tackle major issues such as insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and weaknesses in education and healthcare. Obi stated that his administration would prioritize agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and human-capital development, aiming to reduce reliance on imports.

He identified key challenges facing Nigeria, including food insecurity and weak infrastructure, and proposed solutions such as improved security for farmers and businesses, enhanced education systems, and better healthcare access. Obi's economic plan includes accountability for public spending and measurable outcomes for major investments, highlighting the importance of safety and security for economic development.
