Peter Obi Congratulates Noni Nwoye as Senate Minority Whip

Peter Obi, the former president of the Labour Party, issued a statement on Thursday congratulating Noni Nwoye on his election as the Senate Minority Whip. Obi emphasized the importance of Nwoye's new role in serving the Nigerian populace, especially the poor who are suffering.

Noni Nwoye, who represents the Anambra North senatorial district, was unanimously chosen during a plenary session on Wednesday to assume the position of Senate Minority Whip. He succeeds a predecessor who defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nwoye was elected to the Senate in 2023 on the Labour Party platform and later defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in late 2025.
