Obi Critiques Tinubu's Kenya Comparison Amid Nigeria's Crises

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate and Labour Party flag bearer, criticized President Bola Tinubu for his remarks that seemed to downplay Nigeria's significant economic and security challenges by comparing the nation to Kenya. Obi accused Tinubu of deceiving Nigerians and failing to address the harsh realities facing the country.

He presented data indicating that Nigeria lags behind Kenya in various developmental indicators, emphasizing the disparity in infrastructure and macroeconomic stability. Obi pointed out that while Kenya's exchange rate has remained around USD 1 to KES 130 over the past three years, Nigeria's exchange rate has deteriorated, rising from below 500 to above 1,250 within the same period.

He urged Tinubu to abandon his comforting rhetoric and instead confront the country's pressing issues sincerely.
