Petrol Prices Surge to N1,430/Litre in Abuja

The pump price of petrol in Abuja has reached as high as N1,430 per litre, as fuel marketers adjust their prices in response to an increase in the ex-depot price set by Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The refinery raised its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre, prompting filling stations across the capital to increase their prices accordingly.

MRS filling stations now sell petrol for N1,395 per litre, while Mobil outlets have raised their price to N1,400 per litre. NIPCO stations have seen the highest increase, now selling petrol at N1,430 per litre.

This price surge is attributed to a combination of rising global crude oil prices, which have been trading above $100 per barrel, and foreign exchange pressures. The increase in fuel prices is expected to impact transport fares, the cost of goods, and household budgets in Abuja and other regions of Nigeria.
